Open Carriage Gloves

I hope you have had an opportunity to stop by your local yarn shop or bookstore to flip through this beauty.

Did you happen to recognize a certain designer's name?

It may be a bit blurry, but there it is... my name! I am so happy to now be able to share that I have a pattern in the Jane Austen Knits 2013 magazine. This has been in the works since last winter, which is quite a long time to keep something this exciting quiet.

The Open Carriage Gloves were made with Quince and Co.'s Chickadee. The colorway featured in the magazine is the very rich Gingerbread. I originally submitted it in Twig, but I've been dreaming about how it would look in a very soft, pale color.... maybe Frost or Petal? This project is one of those great weekend-knitting-stash-busters. The smallest size, which would fit most people, takes only 1 skein of Chickadee.

Speaking of Chickadee.... I happen to have one lovely skein of Chickadee (in the Delft colorway) to give away today! Leave a comment below sharing what color (or perhaps different yarn?) you envision for these fingerless gloves. You have ONE WEEK to post a comment. Next Monday, November 11, I will select a winner using the online random number generator. Be sure to let me know your Raverly name or email address so that I contact you!

Happy knitting!

  1. Meg !!! I would love to win yarn, but CONGRATS on the publication!! So very exciting and the pattern is simply beautiful !!!! As for color, I would go with either a pale blue or a rasberry (but light colored to show off the stitches)

  2. Congratulations on being published, so exciting!!

I'm all about neutrals for winter, since they'll match anything but I can't lie. I love the new Belize colorway!

  3. Congratulations! Being published is so exciting! I, myself, think these gloves would look great in the crocus colorway. A brightly colored accessory helps me think of warmer days to come.

  4. Pink is my go-to color for most everything, but I think these would look stunning and sophisticated in pale blue or a warm neutral color. Congratulations on your publication!

  11. Hey Meg I just had to say I really think your gloves are wonderful and they would look awesome in Indigo or a deep Aubergine Purple......although a really Pale Rose would make them appear so delicate and sweet as well .....Congratulations! Can't wait to see more
