Today I will introduce the first of three patterns part of the Best Buds Collection.
Meet Janie.
Lately, my daughter has been sneaking into my handknits basket and
trying on a number of my cowls. (Her favorite is an adorable double knit polka dot one- pink, of course- made by my friend, Amy.) She looked so cute that I had to design
one just for her.
I dove into my stash and found a partial skein of Quince and Co.'s Osprey in Sorbet, leftover from my Agnes Pullover. This cowl is worked flat in a cozy textured stitch
pattern. Any little girl would love a chance to pick out her favorite
colored yarn and a few adorable buttons for her very own cowl. I know
Emma sure did! She selected two cupcake buttons from my button stash for her cowl. With a simple design like this, yarn and buttons, especially, can really make the project pop!
The Janie cowl comes in two sizes: child and adult. It requires less than one skein of Osprey (or a heavy aran/chunky weight yarn), 2 to 3 buttons and very little knitting time!
Once I got started, I couldn't stop. I had this vision of Emma and her two best buddies playing in the leaves each with her own cowl to match her personality. And so, Rosie and Jeannie were also born... keep checking back to find out more about the rest of the collection and for a chance to win patterns and yarn.
Ready for another giveaway? How would you like a free copy of the Janie cowl pattern? Leave a comment below telling me what your favorite buttons look like or what kind of buttons you'd like on your Janie cowl. You have ONE WEEK to post a comment. Next Tuesday, November 12, I will
select a winner using the online random number generator. Be sure to let
me know your Raverly name or email address so that I contact you!
Happy knitting!
p.s My current favorite buttons are these giant hounds tooth ceramic ones that are just itching to be paired with Puffin! Hmm, that gives me an idea....
I saw the cutest handpainted wooden buttons on etsy:

This would be a fun way to show them off!
Adorable!! The cowl is pretty cute too ;)
ReplyDeleteI would use some ice skating boot buttons that I have. Janie cowl would be perfect to keep a cute little girl warm and cozy while ice skating.Love Debbieduck
ReplyDeleteSince I would be making it for Caitlyn, I can't dare speculate as to what buttons I would use. She loves buttons right now (I've started a button jar just for her), so I would let her pick some out and then choose the yarn based on her decision...although she'd probably want to pick out the yarn too.
ReplyDeleteI like the color and the buttons!
