Ta da! Here are my two penguins...
How cute are those bright pink penguin feet on the flaps? |
I made Tommy's hat before he was born. It is a size 18 month hat. Did I mention that he is only 7 months old? Yes, he too has a large head, just like his sister, mommy and daddy. It was bound to happen.
Can you tell he's teething? |
Emma's hat is from the latest (Winter 2012) issue of Debbie Bliss Magazine. There is SO much that I want to make from this issue! If you have not checked it out yet, then do yourself a knitting favor and pick one up. It's beautiful. I particularly love the feature on children's accessories (I wanted to make the owl hat for Em, but she insisted on the penguin one).
Poor Emma had a nasty cold when I took this picture. |
Both hats were made with Knit Picks Swish DK. Tommy's colors are Black, White and Carrot. Emma's colors are Sugar Plum, Carnation, and White. There are three things I really like about this yarn: it is machine washable, has beautiful colors and the price is terrific (plus, all of the yarn came from my stash!). Come to think of it, there are a few other great characteristics. It holds up well with wear and in the dryer. Also, the merino superwash fiber makes the yarn feel quite soft - perfect for next-to-skin wear (think babies!).
Both hats are adorable!!! As are your kids. What a lucky mama you are :)
