The 10,000 Giveaway

Nope. I am not giving away 10,000 things. Although how cool (and slightly overwhelming) would it be to have 10,000 skeins of yarn? Yikes! Maybe I'll settle for the idea of 10,000 yards of yarn instead.

Shortly after my last post, the my blog reached and surpassed 10,000 views. In celebration, I will give away a beautiful skein of yarn from my lovely stash.

In order to be in the running to receive this skein, you must post a comment about summer crafting. What type of crafting do you like to do in the summertime? And why?

Spud and Chloe Fine in the Glow-worm colorway

This time of year usually has me sewing more than knitting. I'm eying up a few projects from my Pinterest board already. Plus, the Craftsy courses are calling my name too. If only there were more kid-free hours in the day... sigh...

So take a moment to write a comment about your favorite summer crafting activities sometime between now and next Wednesday at midnight. I will pick a winner using the Random Number Generator and let you know Wednesday morning.

Happy crafting!

I've been notified that some readers' comments won't show up. If this is the case, send me a message via Facebook (Meg Roke) or PM me on Ravelry (Mooch) to let me know and I'll assign you a number. Thanks!

  1. Going to re-post this... My summer knitting/crafting has ALWAYS been pool-potable and lightweight, usually socks. I hate the heat AND I spend hundreds of hours at different pools with my younger kids. THIS year, I am baby knitting and crocheting for my first grand baby (due in November) and also making baby shower invites. Oh, and a pair of size THIRTEEN socks for my son whose wife is making me a grandmother.

  2. My knitting is pretty much the same all year round. One sweater or blanket in the works, with hats for the homeless interspersed to break the routine. I'll branch out to some fingerless mitts or slippers when Mom wants some new ones. This yarn is a lovely color, thanks for the giveaway. I'm KittenWhiplash on Ravelry.

  4. I'm working on presents for Christmas! I always wonder how to get them done on time so I've started! I'm making the granddaughters a sweater called "in Threes".

  5. Summer or not, I keep knitting! In the heat it's been lightweight cotton sweaters. Rav amchart theharts at windstream dot net

  6. My summer knitting is pretty random, depending on what I fancy at any given time. I'm currently knitting a shawl and contemplating baby knitting (Busy Baby Set?) for my first great-nephew due in November. However, all year long my thoughts stray toward Christmas stockings, and a new baby will certainly need one. In Western Washington (although it's 90 degrees today!) it is rarely to warm to knit.

  8. It's always summer here in Hawai'i to some extent, so my summer knitting doesn't differ much from my winter knitting. :) I'm making a sweater to wear to a friend's wedding, a bolero for her to wear in her own wedding, and a hat in partial trade for a computer. (What can I say, I've got awesome friends who appreciate handknits!)

  10. I've been trying to start knitting on Christmas gifts, but haven't found much motivation...so I pulled the old sewing machine out and started some sewing projects instead

  11. I SHOULD be knitting Christmas presents or ornaments, but I usually just make socks or doll clothes in the summertime. I've also been making squares for a comfort afghan.

  14. My favorite in the summer is still knitting, but I tend to stick to smaller projects. No blankets or Aran sweaters! My kids have had me busy knitting stuffed toys for them this summer. So far a dino, a pair of frogs, a bear, a pig and a monster. I still have a crab, a kitty and a bunny nugget to go. (knitschmidt on ravelry)

  15. My summer crafting has me sewing a baby quilt and knitting a cotton baby Cardi for friends who are exspecting. My all time favorite summer time crafting is weaving. My loom is set up in our basement where it is nice and cool and quiet and next to my laundry room where I have an extra stove to melt beeswax from our hives into 1 oz. chunks for selling at fiber shows or using in my home made salves.

  16. I find myself knitting lighter weight shawls and I will start planning Christmas gifts as well--what I want to make and the yarn necessary to knit them with plus the timeline :) I also just knit to decompress from my job which is super stressful and mentally exhausting. Knitting allows me to turn off my brain from work and focus on something creative.

  17. I love kntting or crocheting outdoors. Usually I do something simple like washcloths so that way I can just enjoy being outside.
